Board of Evangelism
Those who practice evangelism are indeed delivering a message: One of extraordinarily good news, life-giving and transformative, with eternal ramifications.
Evangelism, simply put, is telling good news, which is what the word evangelism means, to simply share good news with another person. And it could mean any good news, but in the Biblical sense, the word evangelism refers to the good news about Jesus. Evangelism includes preaching, announcing, or otherwise communicating the gospel, our salvation. It is delivering the message that Jesus Christ is not only the Son of God but also gave His life as a sacrifice for our sins. In doing so, He ensured eternal life for anyone who believes. When we think about evangelism, we should not necessarily think of a method, or a program, or some area of a church’s ministry. We should think simply of an individual follower of Jesus telling his or her story in such a way that they are telling Jesus’ story too, the Good News of Jesus. Christ Lutheran’s Board of Evangelism is involved in various aspects of the ministry at the church. Its main goal is WITNESS and OUTREACH. Witness is the work we have been given to do as the church dispersed.
We are given opportunities to speak of Jesus with the people in our everyday lives: our friends, co-workers, neighbors, family members, etc. Outreach is the work we do as the church assembled. It is our collective effort through ministries, services, events and other activities as the church through which we invite and include others into ministry. Various activities and events are hosted by the Evangelism committee as desired by the members of Christ Lutheran.
Meetings are held regularly, and individuals are invited to contact Pastor Johnson to be included in this exciting ministry.
Evangelism comes from the Greek words euaggelion — a good message, or gospel —
and euaggelizo — to announce, declare, bring, or preach this good news. Notice the word
“angel” tucked inside the word — an angel is a messenger.
